Healthy Choice’s Power Bowl Is Good For You & The Environment

People are busy. It doesn’t matter if you’re a mom working full-time or a student rushing between classes, an internship and a job, sometimes the only way you eat is via a pre-packaged or prepared meal of convenience.

So when Conagra company, Healthy Choice introduced the Power Bowl, it was automatically a game changer. Not only are the flavors low in sodium, for those looking to decrease their intake, but each of the bowls (and lids) made from plant-based fibers are compostable and recyclable.

And there’s no shame in it either. Sometimes there’s not enough time or energy in the day to prepare a fresh meal or to meal prep for the week. Heck, we’re all guilty of it, and so are 50% of adults according to Taylor Farms.

Just think about the plastic waste generated from the freezer-to-microwave dinners and lunches generally sold in lightweight, plastic containers, which is great for cooking but isn’t doing any favors to the planet.

The only downfall, outside of some of the health risks involved with eating taquitos, frozen pizzas and Lunchables every day, is the amount of plastic waste involved. In fact, almost 45% of all materials in landfills are from food packaging.

Imagine how the world’s plastic footprint would decrease if more companies switched their frozen and prepackaged foods over to alternative materials that are compostable and recyclable.
