“As tradition, ‘Lì Xì’ is an important customs in Tết holiday when people give and receive a red envelope from others with best wishes for a coming year. The red envelope itself holds a very special meaning. The red color represents hope and luck that brings happiness and health during the year to whom given. 2018 is the ‘Year of Dog’ in the lunar calendar, named ‘Mậu Tuất’ in Vietnamese. ‘Tuất’ is a dog that symbolizes trust, straight, sacrifice, and is also known as the most faithful animal that is respected by humans. Here at Blank, a Vietnam based creative lab in Ho Chi Minh city, we wanted to make the red envelope different, modern but traditional, luxurious but friendly with distinctive form with a limited printing technique and careful material selection.”

“Silver, red, transparent foiling and patterned die-cuts are proudly to be used. The color selection ended up with red and blue in order to catch the eyes, and separate itself from the group of normality, to strongly bring joy to Tết. Key images - five dogs - are illustrated with a geometric style combined with a perforated pattern inspired by ‘Bánh Chưng - bánh Dày’ -traditional Tet cake. The image mixing of ‘Mai vang’ and text-circle creates an interesting stamp sticking the red-envelope cover. From the  small creative corner of Blank, we deliver more than a red envelope, it’s a wish.”
