With condom wrappers featuring phrases like “Don’t Be A Dick,“ “Pleasure is POWER,” “Respect Women,” and “Women Don’t Owe You Shit,“ Whitney Bell, an artist, and activist, and Say It With A Condom are serving up unapologetic realness to the world of consent condoms.
To those unfamiliar, consent condoms were created to spark the conversation of well, consent before partaking in any sexual activities. Afterall, consent is sexy, remember?
Bell’s new line of condoms doesn’t stop at prompting the conversation though. In fact, she takes it to a whole other level by empowering the wearer with straightforward phrases, also seen on her clothing line, and by donating 100% of its proceeds to amfAr, The Foundation for AIDS Research.
Alongside Bell in her campaign to educate and promote sex positivity is activist and musician Madame Gandhi, actress DeWanda Wise and vlogger Jazzmyne Jay.
Together, these women and a handful of activists are spearheading a movement by showcasing the importance of consent, openly discussing the stigmas revolving pleasure and sexuality while celebrating the all-inclusivity of the new generation. As stated on Bell’s website, it’s time to "strip your shame, while you strip clothes. De-stigmatize STIs and great real about sex ed!”
As of yesterday, these condoms can be purchased online in a pack of six, each equipped with a unique design ready to have you safely rolling in the hay. If you are itching to do more, cruise over to Bell’s website to join the movement.
