The role of a lone bee within the hive is to journey out into the unknown in search of nectar for the colony. The design visually depicts the bee’s journey, the dangers faced and its encounters along the way. But it is also a metaphor for our own client’s mission - the hurdles and risks he took on his journey to creating the very best sparkling mead (and getting the product to market).
As a small, start-up business, bringing a single SKU new offering to market, on a limited budget, meant we were tasked to create a stand-out piece of packaging to attract immediate interest. We rejected many of the beer and cider category norms, allowing Lone Bee to stand apart from competing products.
Restricting the single label to one colour ink, plus a foil, ensured the label was affordable to produce and kept printing costs within the client’s reach.
Note: Sparkling Honey Mead is a new category of beverage - the taste sits in-between a beer and a cider. It is a dry, refreshing drink, with traceable, locally sourced manuka and clover honey ingredients.
